The Globecraft ® Institute

The Globecraft ® Institute is the research arm of the Geneva School of Diplomacy & International Relations in Switzerland. Under the general direction of the President of the Geneva School of Diplomacy (GSD), the Globecraft ® Institute is, nevertheless, a legally and academically autonomous centre for research on avant garde and pressing world issues - political, legal and economic.
The mandate of the Globecraft ® Institute represents no consensus of beliefs and is neither left-wing nor right-wing. Instead, the focus of the research centre varies – depending on its perceptions of the importance of different issues requiring attention at different times. Under the broad goal of advancing the cause of peace and human rights, the Globecraft® Institute undertakes research and investigation on numerous issues it deems relevant and of importance to global progress at any one period.
The initial research of the Institute has been on energy issues, the politics of technology and intellectual property, global water shortage, international development and the ever-more-urgent issues of conflict resolution and the better understanding of the roots of war. Other research topics are added as the leadership of the Institute sees fit. The term “Globecraft®” is a registered and copyrighted invention of the Geneva School of Diplomacy.
While GSD teaching focuses on three branches of knowledge - International Relations, International Law and International Economics - the arts of Statecraft and (now) Globecraft® are central to GSD’s teaching, diplomatic and humanitarian endeavors in our ever-more-rapidly shrinking world.
The Globecraft® Institute is based in Geneva, Switzerland at the heart of the world’s most diplomatic neighbourhood, surrounded by some 200 international organizations. It employs a small staff, and - for its research and publication programme - accommodates, on a rotating basis, leading world scholars on a Visiting Professor basis.
