"Innovative Diplomacy in a Digital World"
On October 6, 2012, the Geneva School of Diplomacy and the US Mission to the United Nations in Geneva co-organised a roundtable on “Innovative diplomacy in a digital world”.
Christina Tribble, Senior Adviser for Social Media at the US Department of State, explained how diplomats are adapting their communication strategy to better respond to social media.
Prof. Ivan Ureta, Professor at GSD, showed how despite the development of such new communication technologies, it is still necessary to test and analyse in deeper detail their real impact and role on socio-political transformations and diplomatic actions.
An active discussion followed, moderated by Matthias Lüfkens, Head of Digital Media at the World Economic Forum and expert on Twitter Diplomacy.
More then 120 persons attended the event. This encourages us to further pursue the discussion and reflexion on this issue in the form of a short training session to be held in February 2012.
